Clinic Description
The Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans’ Hospital offers drug rehab services for opioid recovery in San Antonio, Texas. The center provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT), dual diagnosis care, outpatient programs (OP), and aftercare for veterans and their families. Specialized services are available for the LGBTQ+ community, underserved communities, homeless/indigent persons, and seniors.
At the Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans’ Hospital, clients undergo a customized evaluation and are assigned to a case management team. FDA-approved prescriptions, such as methadone, buprenorphine, naloxone, or disulfiram, are used to ease withdrawal pains and reduce cravings. Clients also participate in counseling to prevent relapse.
In addition to medication management, clients also receive individual and group therapy to address co-occurring mental and behavioral health disorders. Clients with acute cases may receive inpatient care. Referrals to other centers within the VA network can be made for specialized substance abuse programs, such as motivational interviewing, harm reduction peer support, and emotional wellness training. Limited transportation is available.
