Clinic Description

Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Addictions & Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) is an alcohol and drug rehab center for adolescents and adults, operating within the University of New Mexico (UNM) Health System. They provide integrated addiction recovery services including medication-assisted treatment (MAT), outpatient treatment, and aftercare services. Specialized support is available for adolescents and transition-age clients, pregnant and postpartum women, clients with severe trauma or mental illness, and clients with co-occurring conditions.

Their MAT program helps clients overcome addictions to opioids, alcohol, and other substances. A team of multi-disciplinary providers can administer FDA-approved medications, including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone, to help clients manage the physical symptoms of withdrawal, minimize cravings, and reduce relapse risk.

Their outpatient treatments focus on evidence-based therapies designed to help clients understand their addictions, identify triggers, learn healthy coping techniques, and develop the necessary life skills for long-term recovery. Available services include individual, group, and family counseling; case management; addiction education; relapse-prevention training; and peer support groups. Long-term MAT maintenance programs are available for clients with more extensive pharmacotherapy needs.

The UNM Health System accepts most forms of commercial insurance, including Aetna, Amerigroup, Centurion, BlueCross/BlueShield, Christus, HealthSmart, Humana, Cigna, and others. They also accept Medicare and Medicaid, and financial assistance is available. Contact your provider to verify coverage as out of network benefits can vary.
