Clinic Description
UNM Hospital provides emergency care, primary health care, behavioral health care, and addiction recovery support services for children, teenagers, and adults in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Their age-specific programs include medication-assisted treatment (MAT), inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, and aftercare support. Specialized services are available for adolescent and transition-age clients, Native American clients, pregnant and postpartum women, clients with severe mental illness or trauma, and clients with co-occurring conditions. Telehealth appointments may be available.
If clients need to detox from alcohol, opioids, or other substances before entering into inpatient or outpatient treatment, they can do so through the on-site MAT program. Providers assess their condition, develop an individualized treatment plan, and help them complete the medical detox phase. Staff administer FDA-approved medications, such as methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone (Vivitrol), to manage pain levels, reduce cravings, and minimize relapse risk.
Inpatient services are available for clients who require 24/7 medical care and supervision. In addition to working one-on-one with a dedicated counselor, clients may receive psychiatric services to address underlying mental health conditions linked to their addictions.
Outpatient services include case management, individual and group counseling sessions, addiction education, psychiatric services, life-skills training, and related resources. Clients work through recovery in phases, gradually reducing the frequency of their visits until graduation.
UNM Hospital works with most major insurance providers, including Anthem, Aetna, BlueCross/BlueShield, Cigna, HealthSmart, Liberty Mutual, and Molina. They also accept Medicare and Medicaid. Ask your provider to verify your coverage as out of network benefits can vary.
