Clinic Description
Located in Baltimore, Maryland, Baltimore VA Medical Center – VA Maryland Health Care System provides primary, mental, and behavioral health care for military personnel, veterans, and their families. Their programs include medication-assisted treatment (MAT), crisis intervention, general outpatient programs, and aftercare programs. Specialized services are available for adolescents, young adults, seniors, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and persons with co-occurring disorders. Telehealth appointments may be available.
Their MAT services are designed around each client’s individual care plan. As required, a team of multi-disciplinary providers can administer FDA-approved addiction medications, including methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone (Vivitrol), acamprosate, and disulfiram, to help clients detox from alcohol, opioids, and other substances. These medications ease the physical pain of withdrawal, minimize cravings, and help reduce relapse risk.
In addition to MAT services, outpatient programs are available to help clients address the emotional and mental aspects of addiction recovery. These services include individual and group counseling, addiction education, relapse-prevention training, life-skills training, and connections to community-based health services.
In addition to military benefits, Baltimore VA Medical Center – VA Maryland Health Care System may accept most major insurance plans, such as Cigna, BlueCross/BlueShield, Humana, and others. Contact your provider to verify coverage because out of network benefits can vary. Financial assistance is available.
