Clinic Description
The Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioids program provides addiction recovery services for adults in Alexandria, Virginia. Their programs include medication-assisted treatment (MAT), outpatient care, and aftercare services. Specialized support is available for pregnant and postpartum women, clients with HIV/AIDS, intravenous drug users, and clients with co-occurring addictions and mental health disorders.
Their MAT program allows clients to complete opiate detoxification under the guidance of a professional medical team. As required, providers can administer FDA-approved addiction medications, including methadone and buprenorphine (Suboxone), to relieve the physical symptoms of withdrawal, mitigate drug cravings, and lower the risk of relapse.
In addition to MAT, they also provide outpatient services through a 16-week program called Matrix. Treatments at the Matrix incorporate an array of evidence-based therapies, including one-on-one and group counseling sessions, peer-based recovery groups, relapse prevention training, family education and social support groups, career counseling, and related services. Aftercare support may include connections to other behavioral health groups within the DCHS or greater community.
The Alexandria DCHS Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioids program may work with most commercial insurance providers, including Cigna, Humana, Anthem, Aetna, BlueCross/BlueShield, and others. Speak with your provider to check your coverage because out-of-network benefits can vary.
