Clinic Description
The Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center offers alcohol, tobacco, and drug rehab services, including opioid recovery, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The center provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT), detox, dual diagnosis care, inpatient (IP), outpatient (OP), and aftercare programs for veterans and their families. Specialized services are available for gender-specific groups, the LGBTQ+ community, homeless/indigent persons, and underserved communities.
At the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Department, clients undergo a personalized screening and are assigned to a case management team. FDA-approved prescriptions include methadone, buprenorphine/naloxone treatments such as Suboxone, naltrexone injections, acamprosate, disulfiram, topiramate, nicotine replacement therapy, bupropion, and varenicline to reduce cravings and ease withdrawal pains. Supervision is provided and additional pharmacological therapies are used to prevent relapse.
In addition to medication management, rehabilitation can take place in outpatient or inpatient settings. Counseling includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational enhancement therapy, motivational interviews, and emotional wellness training to address co-recurring mental and behavioral health disorders. Referrals may be made to other departments within the medical center or outside treatment centers for substance abuse programs.
